Seashell Treasure Hunt
- 40-60 assorted seashells (some painted gold or glitter)
- Small mesh bags or buckets (1 per kid)
- Optional: treasure map drawn on brown paper bag
Hide seashells around the yard or party space before guests arrive. Mix in a few special shells painted gold — these are 'magic pearls' worth extra points. Give each kid a mesh bag and a treasure map showing the general hiding zones. Set a timer for 10 minutes and let them hunt. At the end, count shells: regular shells are 1 point, gold shells are 5 points. The top collector wins a prize, but every kid keeps their shells.
Tip: Hide shells at different heights and difficulty levels — easy ones on the ground for younger kids, tucked-in spots on ledges for older ones. Paint 3-4 shells gold the night before with craft paint or nail polish. For indoor parties, hide shells in plain sight around the room rather than truly concealing them, or younger kids get frustrated. This activity works for ages 3-10 without any modification.
